First off, OoT was a good game, but far from deserving the title of 'Best Game 'Ever' and it's nott an rpg. And I can name multiples of games way better than Super Mario Galaxy 2, in most every genre. The problem I find with these things is the number one game spot goes by what people say it is, and people are stupid and tasteless. Quantity does NOT mean quality. Just because everyone says it's the best, doesn't mean it is.

Gamerankings and metacritic , simply take all reviews , and give a average of it. and not all reviews are done yet.
Not allot of people are saying its the "best" game ever. (the first Mario bross saved the gaming market btw ).
lemme ques , you play MW1 or 2 by any chance?
According to the reviewers , SMG2 is the "best" , a review is the "opinion" of a reviewer.

Story line is the main attraction to RPG games, then graphics. I know for a fact I wouldn't play those Paper Mario looking games might as well continue playing Super Nintendo with all those legendary games but no graphics.
SquareEnix is notorious for making epic story lines and dynamic graphics with new battle system in ALL their games not just the Final Fantasy series. You can't say that Zelda-Ocarina of Time game wasn't an RPG because it was, along with adventure and action like every other Final Fantasy is.
Like you said about quality and quantity, truly, SquareEnix publishes both categories top of the line in every aspect but their latest FFXIII was by far their worst work I've played. Almost wanted to ask for a refund they've always made their games RPG, this one though was more than anything action/fighting you're directed towards next objectives rather than traveling looking for secrets and doing mini-games for fun. First disappointment from the company since I've played the first of the series will wait for next one though which might take till 2011 for release.

I've played Modern Warfare for the sake of playing it, i'm not crazy over it, and I certainly don't consider it one of my favorite games. If I wanted to play a kick ass shooter, I'd play Deus Ex, thank you very much. And what question did I not answer? Also, I'm pretty sure #1 means 'the best'
