because the ruler himself never actually sees combat... its the people.
You've gotta think about it more as a movie, telling a story... forget about the Game aspect of battle dawn, and look at the stages.
Stage 1) Build buildings at one of the newest military bases (your colony), and create some initial defense units.
Stage 2) Build more troops to acquire more resources, and a base (your colony)
Stage 3) Advance buildings to fullest potential, and max out your army
Stage 4) Go for domination/relics
Take out the idea of the game, and look at it through the eyes of a civilian.... of course, it wont be able to mimic BD completely, simply becaue everything follows a pattern in BD, no random accidents that add spice to the story
The planet is under military law ever since the crashing of wreckage off your eastern borders. It was believed that it was an alien scouting ship, and nothing much was thought of it... until the wreckage became appearing more frequently. Because of this, military bases have been posted at strategic points around the globe, and have begun preparing for alien/mars invasion.
The movie focuses on normal civilians, who were conscripted to the Human armed forces, and stationed as a construction worker. The main characters form bonds due to their distaste for the military, but they just do their jobs... Relationships grow, and we get character development. Of course, there would be plot twists such as sabotage, the energy reactor going critical, etc etc, so its not ONLY character buildup....maybe even a random assault on the base from rebels, who at the time are believed to be alien invaders due to all the paranoia, just to add some spice
Tension builds, however, as the base structure plans shifts focus from Basic resource production, to military research and production. As these buildings are completed, soldiers are trained from the workers already at the base No one really wants to become a soldier to fight these unknown aliens.
But eventually, your sector is drafted, trained, and put into a squad ready to fight[*side note*Here, if the directors/creators wanted to, i think the squad 'nicknames' could be named after some of the BD legends**]. The first movie would end 'our' squad is sent out to combat, with no idea where.
The second movie would start by recapping a bit, re-introducing the characters in a series of flashbacks as you ride in your shuttle.... the flashbacks end with a rough entry into the 'atmosphere' of mars... You always assumed this was your destination, but now you know for sure. You browse the surface, finding little to no resistance... you get a bit of action, and of course, one of the main characters dies, and is drug under the surface by one of the alien devices. This leads you to find that most of the alien civilization is under the surface, accessible only at certain locations. You report back, and prepare an initial strike force. The ranged units blast a hole into the initial defenses, and then your squad is sent in to do the surge.
As with most second movies, it wouldn't really fulfill much of a story aspect, but it would provide some of the better/longer battle scenes of the movie, as it is focused in the 'residentials' of an alien civilization.
The story would focus on the fighting, but would eventually lead to some writing, or a clue to something, that gets the general(s) attention... you spend the last 15-20 minutes of the movie doing some more battle to find what is known as the 'key' to the race....only to find it is actually the key to something much larger... the Relics.
END 2nd movie.
The third movie is the closer. EPIC battles, major story fillers, and of course, reunions!
Yep... as you leave the area where you find the key, your old friend that was 'killed' and drug under the surface, has managed to survive in the shadows all this time, and finally caught up with you, with some more information about these relics. It is believed that the relics are the source of the alien life on mars, but they are protected by their gods.... they (you/the humans) speculate that these relics are advanced technology beyond that of the martians/humans but it is not offensive... only used to advance society, and power supply.
Through more battles, you manage to locate some of the relics, and take them back to earth with you. The relics provide massive amounts of resources, and allows your society to flourish... however, it is found that the relics were not gifts at all... they were trojans from yet another race [*hint hint* Admins**]... These relics held hundreds of alien troops that are released on both Mars and Earth simultaneously, causing a massive Havoc.
The ending?
No idea how i want it to end... i personally wouldn't mind if there was a twist to it, where the admins... i mean, other aliens, wiped out both worlds, and started again... with more humans... or something like that XD
But the ending isn't allll that important
