I'm pretty sure it works that way. For instance, if you put 10 snipers versus 20 riflemen, the snipers attack the first round, AND the second round, AND the third round, whereas with your idea, they would attack the first round, then wait two rounds to attack again which is not what happens.

The battle system works this way:

1) If range units present, all ranged units on both sides fire at the same time, losses calculated.

2) Ranged units fire again, if damage units present they also fire at the same time, losses calculated.

3) Ranged/damage units fire again, if armoured units present armoured units fire at the same time, losses calculated.

4) Repeat step 3 until one side has no remaining units.

Most battles are over in 1-2 rounds, it's pretty rare to get 4 or more round battles.

We're going to be introducing a battle calculator into the game interface very soon, it's almost finished I believe and should make it's way into the game in the next major update hopefully. This uses the actual battle engine, not copy and pasted code but the actual in-game battle engine to simulate a battle so the results will be 100% accurate.

Hope that helps!
-Andrew

Please do not forget to add nukes and spies into the calculator, and experienced units when they come out.

I programmed this from scratch. I only took what I knew and was told about the battledawn combat system and implemented it.

I didn't copy and paste any code.

The calculator is over 2k lines of code. I simulated battles as best as I could with the information I had.

Maybe when I get the time I will try to implement the rest of this stuff.

I do have other priorities(Like school).

Sounds like only ranged units are the best to use. In the old client it was a mix of armor with ranged units. With this set up it sounds like full squads of ranged is the best way to go about it.
