I just wanted to mention that one of the problems I have with the fixed weight limit is it doesn't condition you to think about your weight as you level up. You just swap out parts not thinking about it and then suddenly weight is a problem. You haven't been getting used to it or even thinking about it, and then suddenly your told you're too heavy.
I've probably mentioned this 5 times all separate but I wanted to put it together.
So whether the weight is 1000kg, 1200kg, or 2000kg, having a fixed number is going to add an abrupt change late in the game. Which is fine... if it's 1987 and your developing for the NES. But games have existed for a long time and people know how a game's suppose to feel. Real Steel does great piece by piece balancing mechanics. Clash of Clans makes freemium that rewards you for spending money but keeps the game fun and fair for free players too. Halo does a good job matching up even fights. And even Batman: Arkham Asylum which has some very experimental feeling gameplay and storyline still doesn't throw "caged" boss fights at you out of the blue at the end of the game.
