I agree … it takes too long, which could be a problem in laggy fights. Also, I was conditioned to shutdown in the old area … now I keep making mistakes because my instincts are wrong.
I think they moved it to combat the double/triple shutdowns players were doing before, which could have been accessed by spamming the 1 key. Oh well, I guess this is a fair solution, alas …

Oh well, I guess this is a fair solution, alas … That can't be the reason for it for two reasons... 1. The glitch doesn't work anymore 2. If it still worked, that change would be unnecessary(spam 6 instead of 1 )

Well, perhaps the glitch does not work anymore, but I was unaware of that.
Still sometimes, certain codings are vulnerable to certain key strokes … it is possible R & D came to the conclusion that moving the shutdown button fixed the issue?

Well I like the theory SideOne - even though it would seem totally wrong

well it is just a theory … but I would not be surprised if the reason why the double shutdown glitch no longer exists and the fact that shutdown button was moved are both correlated, even if there is no causal connection.

Well, it must be one of those non-temporal quantum mechanics thingies, (like the quantum eraser effect or Wheeler's experiment) since the double cooldown glitch was fixed several days before the shut-down was shifted...

Oh, I did not realize the double cooldown thing had stopped – I thought I had seen that in one of my recent battles, but I was not playing close attention. Oh and I looked up the quantum eraser effect – so cool – thanks for that!

let me explain it
We watched many replays of new players and also had several reports that the shutdown is confusing for new players. They either expected to go back to the main menu with clicking it, a possibility to dodge attacks with that in the next turn or they just clicked it by mistake.
The simplest solution was: bringing it from the left side to the right side. Sorry guys, no rocket science included
