Why does incest have to be between a mother and a son? Why does it have to be between siblings?

Why cant it be between cousins? In some cultures cousin marriages exist even today. So what about them?

Secondly, sex is not to procreate. Yes it is, in the truest sense of the word, but you cannot apply that principle to human beings. So if sex was not to procreate - like between gay people, then what would you do? Throw them in jail for being gay?

What if it was a gay incestual relationship, would you then be okay with it?

The thing is, yes everytime an act of sex has a chance of producing a baby regardless of protection, but that is a chance people take. There are other methods to not get pregnant like taking a pill, or getting the baby aborted etc But this is their freedom. They can do whatever they want. Why should they be sent to jail for it? Because WE dont approve? Thats something Hitler would say

Lastly how effective is the law against incest, today anyway? How will it get worse if legalized? It wont get worse. It wont get better. It will stay the same. So why have the law ? Why cant incest be governed within the framework of the laws we have now? Like coerced sex whether incestual or not, is a crime. Sex with a minor whether incestual or not is a crime etc?

Inbreeding leads to disabilities I agree. I am not saying people should do it or am for it. But there are people who do it nevertheless. Just like you can choose your partner why cant they? Even if that seems taboo to you?

There were times when homosexuality was considered a sin. Today we have come to accept it. Why not incest in the same way? There are people who are built in different ways and while we may not share their enthusiasm, we dont need to persecute them for it.

Now sex as such is not just for procreation. Thats a very narrow minded, old fashioned way of looking at things. Sex could be just for pleasure, it could be for purposes of bonding like in a relationship and it can be for making babies as well. If sex was only for procreation we wouldn't have contraceptives. People would just marry and procreate.



For incest, I dont think you will get tickets. Yes you might be jailed. According to the law today.

I dont get what the censored part was, but when it comes to polygamy - its fine. India is a multi ethnic, multi religious secular country. We have marriage laws for every religion. So muslims for example can marry upto 5 wives legally. Christians and Hindus on the other hand can marry only one. So if a Christian wants to be a polygamist then he has to convert to Islam. Cuz the law applies only to muslims. Not too fair, but maybe we need some reforms. But as a principle, polygamy is fine as long as the parties involved are okay with it.

Keep the getting pregnant part illegal.

All western countries beside the netherlands(legal) give jail time for incest.

Anything that does not hurt anybody else should be fine, that does include polygamy.
