What is the range of the Ion Cannon?

Doesn't the missle or fleet have to be within a certon number of ticks to your colony to be able to use it?

If yes:
1. How many ticks?
2. How can you tell if the target is in range? Eg. you have incomming missle and you would need to convert minerals or oil to get enough energy to shoot it. How do you know, you wan't get a message, sorry target is out of range?

Thanks for your help. No guessing please.

Out of the many years I've played BD. I have never received any message ever saying a missile was out of range to be shot down lol.

Ion Cannon has no range..... u can shoot the Ion Cannon at any squad or missile anywhere in the world as long as it is incoming to any of your alliance's ops, colonies etc.

Thanks for your answers, but I am specificaly looking for an admin answer. Thanks again for your time but if you are not an admin, your answer is not what I am looking for.

p.s. this is a debate inside alliance and we need admin to answer.

Well technically, there isn't a limit. You can shoot the ion cannon anywhere on the map as long as there's a missile or squad/squads coming in for something owned by you or your alliance. You also have to have 250 energy and be aware that ioning squads is a total waste.

If the target is out of range you can't see it. Plain and simple.

Why only an admin? These people really know what their talking about and an admin probably wouldn't bother to post on here, so why not give us a chance? ;)

The reason I need an admin is because the person I am having a debate with is also very experianced. I need facts, or someone with 250 energy willing to shoot down a missle over 1/2 way across the gallaxy.

Last era I tryed to deploy my Ion cannon on "something", I don't remember what, and it said, the target was out of range.

I want to be proven wrong, or told by an admin, I am wrong.

So please by all means, shoot down a missle (a long way away from your colony) and prove me wrong.

I told you, there is no limit. As long as you have

250 energy

The ion cannon built of course

Radar coverage (you can see the nuke and it shows up on your radar)

Also, you can only shoot down nukes that are coming for a target owned by you or your alliance.

Do what you wish but I promise you an admin would just say the same thing.

Thanks dylsupreme1 for your answer.

When was the last time you used the ion cannon 1/2 way across the galaxy? If I am going to take your answer, I would like an example, if that is not too much to ask.

I don't play galaxy very often. But I did recently shoot down 2 nukes on e3. They were in Northern Europe and I'm in Madagascar and so are my allies. As long as you have radar range in that area everything's good. :D
