Ideas for events:
Alien Attack- something like the zed event on earth but on galaxies and instead of zombies, aliens.
Mass Crystal Time- 50 OPs spread out across the map just loaded with crystals (And many defenders), and they all disapear after x ticks if some haven't been taken
Capture the Flag- all alliances get 1 flag on the leader's colony and when another alliance conquers the leader, the conquerer's alliance gets the flag. Flags would act like crystals too, boosting resource production. Once an alliance gets their flag taken away, they're "out" and can't participate by taking flags.
Space Station- a huge base is placed in the very center of the map when the era begins and like relics, it can be captured by others. It would have a gate and a shield generator but it will be immobile.
The Final Battle- Every colony on the left side merges to be one huge alliance and same goes with the left side. The top player on each side is the leader and whichever side conquers the opposing leader wins.
Free for All- all alliances get destroyed and everyone has to suddenly fend for themselves, getting points for each conquer. Most points wins.
Time Warp- The era suddenly gets really fast, at 12 ticks per hour or so for a while

Blast from the Past: The era goes back in time for a few hundred ticks, without warning to any players so they're thinking "What...? Where's my relic? Hey, did that guy rebel? WHO CONQUERED ME!? WHAT IS HAPPENING!?
(And then they get the message from the Admin)
Missile Mania- All OPs automaticaly get changed to missile silos (they will be auto loaded).
Electronic Malfunction- All colonies, gates, missiles, and radars get jammed for x ticks (x being how long the event lasts), leaving all players to grope blindly in the dark
Juggetnaut- The top alliance's leader starts off as the Juggernaut, and all other players and alliances are all on a "team" against the Juggernaut and his alliance. Whoever conquers the Juggernaut is the new Juggernaut.
