Yes, it does - thanks for noticing! Specifically the Chinese revolutionaries led by Mao Zedong leading up to and during the Second World War. Right before I discovered Battle Dawn I was watching a documentary about the Long March and it makes me think that he was a military genius. In order to misdirect pursuing Nationalist forces - the rivals of the Red Army - the Communists divided their column into small cells, traveling by a variety of different routes through difficult terrain, then reconvening later. Because the Red Army had hardly any radios, a corps of children - "The Little Red Devils" - were used to relay messages between the cells, to make sure they headed for the same destination. Children were sent because they were not suspected by the Nationalists. And that's just the way the Red Army retreats - I haven't even gotten into the way they fight!

lol watch the tactics for each wars and try to use it on Battle Dawn. They are pretty useful.

However I don't think it's good to have a political name in the game. Since there maybe be someone who hates Communism and will flame you, which I believe is no good, especially in Earth servers.
