Both spy attack and battle were on the same tick?

the only thing i can think of is that you used your spy at the very end of the tick as the server was advancing and it got counted as the next tick

Yes, on the same tick. When my squad was 1 tick away I spread the virus. At the end of that tick the battle occurred...

This sounds like you waited too long and the server didn't have time to process the action...

It might not have worked because the units were in a ship at the place of battle.Example:You are player A,you attack player B.You use a virus on player B's colony,but since player B's units were all in his ships,and not in the actual main base itself,the units were therefore unaffected.People have tried the same thing on me but it didn't work on me :lol:
