Whether menehune chose to backstab you or not isnt the question here like I said before. Markus chose to associate himself with ASEN, so he should be with ASEN come what may. What value does it have? - Respect towards people that you chose to associate yourself with - right or wrong.

Secondly, like I said the reasons behind Markus's leaving ASEN was not the fact that Menehune declared war. Menehune had very good reasons to do that. I personally lost almost 80 units to Kafusalim. I honored his request to stay out of UK, but he did not honor my request to stay out of france. He sniped and killed my units, even after I messaged him that I was taking a few crystals and to pull back. Now I would consider that a cheap shot, and no honor there.

Markus got cold feet and did not believe in ASEN. Its in a way GOOD RIDDANCE, but dishonorable nevertheless.
