First entry. Will probably make another one.

C'mon man.... you've barely altered it, at least try to be original!

Do you want the PSD? I can assure you I put a lot of time and effort into that. It has at least 20 layers... But I guess it was all in vain. Oh well, I still have time to make something better.

Barely altered? I see significant lighting differentials, and a significant overall blending of the art entirely. The same text was used but was more creativity than the original.

I also see added effects that add to the overall project as well as imperfections that were removed.

I see a VERY significant difference. When you do a photo manipulation, one of the things to keep in mind is 9 out of 10 times the image you're working on is 90% perfect, and that 10% added makes a HUGE difference believe it or not. In Zal's case I give it an 8% difference from the main pic, which is significantly close to the goal of 10%.

Kenny out.

I have never heard of many rules of design but never the "10% photo manipulation rule". I'm not sure if I understand you so could you please clarify your position, first you say there is a significant difference and then you say you think the image is 92% the same? On that note I also wonder how you can come up with a figure as exact as 8%, I thought maybe you just have a good eye for these things but then you say you spotted imperfections that have been removed but you seem to have missed the glaring imperfections such as the black box under the text that cuts into his left arm and the two remnants of the text that has been covered up by the same black box that can be seen directly to the right of the letter E.

The entire composition is the work of someone else, I don't think softening the background, sharpening the character and adding some text really qualifies as an original submission.

I'm sure the artist can come up with something more creative

There is no render. The source also had the black box, that wasn't added by Zhester. The original image is the wallpaper I posted, this has been edited by someone else who sloppily added the black box to remove the text from the original. I think we are drifting away from the point here, can you really say that a little post production done to someone elses composition can be counted as an original submission?

Except he didn't use a black box just to cover the text... If he had just resized it, and added his own text, I'd call him out, but that's not all he did.

If his photo manipulation can't be counted then obviously the one in my sig is a terrible one and isn't even worthy for your eyes.

Well you have just stuck your name over someone elses photograph, but it's a nice photo and so my eyes find it worth viewing.

You have yet to prove to me that little work is done, when you fail to realize how many filters that picture has been in, how many gradient maps, and how many different effects he added to make it look more pleasing.

I have the PSD, lots of layers doing not much at all... looks to me like he's seen a tutorial somewhere but doesn't really understand what each layer is for and so just follows the same steps for every image whether needed or not. More than half the layers can be removed with absolutely no change to the final image at all.

If his sig is a rip, than 90% of the signatures I saw in an art forum I was with for 2 to 3 years were all rips, and had no artistic talent.

;/

Sounds like a sucky forum... 3 years and no original creations? If that's true then you might be right about the lack of talent.

It's okay Kenny, really. I don't want to have a signature that people may think is barely altered, so as I mentioned when I first posted that sig, I will be making another one, full of C4Ds and Fractals and Brushes. You won't even be able to recognise the render!

So I half succeeded in trolling you? Result!

I didn't mean try to assassinate the work but you kept asking the questions to lead us down that path, really my only issue was the lack of originality and I was happy to leave it at that until you felt the need to chip in with your opinions. If pushing people to be more creative is wrong then I am at fault.

Zhester, if you want to create your own fractals and 3D renders then you should check out the pixel bender plugin projects at http://www.subblue.com/projects. Very GPU intensive though but you can get some awesome (and original) results.

Entering on behalf of PurpleAce with the sig he did for me. It is simply perfect :)
