Hello guys!

As you've heard ingame we are considering putting a tick limit to the Championship era.

I requested Ilona to announce this for the following reasons:

1. 2014 is coming to an end, and obviously 2014CE cannot end in 2015 ;)
2. We never expected this era to last that long. It is a big stress on our players as well as our admins for far too many monthes now. we want all our players and admins to have a healthy game experience.
3. Since CE has started, the income on all servers dropped as almost all top players are playing now only on one world. this was ok for a few monthes, but recently it has dropped too far down placing a risk on closing the entire BD operation. running the servers, advertisements to bring new players, paying the developers who are now working on building the Mobile client of battle dawn, paying the IT guy on keeping the servers at 99% up time... all that costs tens of thousands of dolllars monthly.

since the first day of battle dawn 8 years ago, this has been a community project, and we wish to keep it that way. It is my opinion that ending the CE and not letting it go endlessly would benefit the entire BD community and will allow us to get to the milestone of releasing the Mobile version of BD so we could bring the BD experience to many new players and increase the community size.

For all the above reaons I ask you to reply here with any reasons you see why we shouldn't end the Era at tick 5000. and I will read and consider all of them.

I feel that it should not be tick 5000. that is coming WAY too soon. you should calculate it out, and make it the day before 2014 ends, giving the players maximum oppertunity to end it on our terms, furthermore, i feel if you intend on placing a tick limit, you should also give the players a chance. something like relic win decreased to 50 ticks control, or something along those lines. maybe even if at any point a team owns all 10 relics they win, so that true victory can always be achieved.

Here's an argument that I'm sure some will disagree with. Postpone the development of the BD mobile app as I imagine this is taking quite a bit of money. Your first promise made to the community was to have an unlimited tick era, which a lot of people still seem to want. Once you've fulfilled that promise, then move on to the next stage (building the mobile app).

I have played BD for many years and this is the first era since OC that people actually care about fighting until the end and dying for what the believe in. Numerous eras I go on are filled with battle hugging and "dynasty's" that honestly impair the overall enjoyment of the game. Many alliances including mine (RDH2) have fought since alliance creation and continue to fight. Ending the era like this will most likely hurt more than solve. I personally won't be back next CE and will never trust the whole "no tick limit" statement again. All of the top alliances like RDH, NJ, and the Aussy coalition planned out this era along side that statement. You changing the rules mid era will make a large percentage of your community lose trust in you.

It honestly seems that the people who actually care about this era want to keep it with a no tick limit.

I completely agree with you Michael and have been saying this is the case for weeks.

OK 1st the populations on the other worlds have taken a dive and I think its from either people getting burnt out from CE or only concentrating on CE.

CE is locked so no new players can join nor any vets. This places stagnation on the players left.

Decreased cash flow cause whats the point on boosting in CE. The era is over, everyone knows who is going to win so there is no reason to waste cash on CE. I'm a mega booster, I boost every era but I haven't boosted on CE in months cause whats the point.

This era has ruined the game for many players, people are fed up with it so the population is going to decrease. I have played this game since OC and this is the first time I have seen such a burn out from vets.

The only people that want the era to continue are those that are winning anyway so just let them win and end it.

OK you will see posts in here from the same people over and over. Those that want the era to continue will be posting nonstop cause the peeps that do want it over don't really check these forums. The best way to get a feel for the era should be done via message in game.

I have allot more to say but leaving it at this and im going to join the silent majority that are sick of this era.

The one thing ive hated most about this game over the years, is that you guys change rules in the middle of eras. And many big changes have been made that require a complete change in strategy in the past. To change now would be horrible as the remaining players in this championship round have all planned there strategy accordingly .

You guys need to change the tick speed in CE rounds.... just my two cents..

Anyways great game and im always addicted...hope it sticks around

Hardly a valid point. As long as the CE 2014 era didn't start in January 2014, that's not an argument. The English Premier league, i.e. started in the fall of 2014, and ends in the spring of 2015. Same with the Champions League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, etc, etc...

Well - one can hardly predict the future. But the fact is, this CE was marketed as a limitless era. That's what the players joined up for, and that's what the players expect. Changing the rules in the middle of it all, will not do much for your reputation. All I can say is: Learn from your mistake, and do better preparations next time. Do not punish, and push away your loyal users/players.

If the long era is causing a strain on the admins - just relive them of their post, and bring in some fresh ones. I've mentioned it before - but other professions do work with different shifts - just do the same. Workers on an oil rig in the north sea, works offshore for 3 weeks, and is home for 5 weeks. Just look at this CE as being offshore - and the normal servers are "home".

All of these things, obviously cost money. But in all fairness, a bad reputation will not provide a better income. Yes, people are boosting less, with the current situation. But I'm pretty sure you guys have made quite the profit on this CE. I've been here - I've been here to see all the world boosts.

Personally, I don't care if it ends or not - I won't end up in the "top anything worth mentioning". I just don't think it's fair to go back on your word like that.

It's bad enough to experience major gameplay changes mid-era - which has happened a few times over the years, forcing you to change your plans, and style of play. But these are necessary changes to the game.

But what you guys are talking about now, is not a necessary change.

Setting this limit, will only provide one thing:

The CE2014 will die out with a whimper - a sad battlehug fest, with armor pumping for score. Not worthy of the Lamborghini of worlds and eras - at all...

That's at least my thoughts in the matter.

Are you really concerned about how much money BD is making? If so, then why don't you keep boosting and help them out?


From where I'm sitting, it looks more like you're worried about what's going to happen once RDH makes it into Aussie. Ending the era early means a better chance of holding onto your 3rd place rank.


There probably has been an income decline like they are saying. However, there's no telling exactly how much of that is because of CE over general loss of interest. Changing the rules of the Championship Era halfway through will only make things worse. A fast way to lose paying players is to break their trust.
