Me and my alliance play in South Greenland, it's somewhat secluded from the rest of the world, but we still have room to move into North America and get conquers. There's also quite a few resource mines in that area.
Usually, the best alliances are on islands, but that's just because nobody can get to them and they manage to build an army early with all their wunderfuh red tokenz.

thanks man i just scanned the map and Asia got quite a lot of mines but are pretty separated apart though

Always I will suggest a Asia and Europe as a good landscape for survival in battledawn........
Becoz when compare to others.... Asia and Europe is combined one and biggest one......so there must be more colony to conqueror as well as with more mines and wells... and He can easily spread over the world easily......
So.. most of Toppest alliances will be in asia.....!
