I could not get past the login stage, it doesn't matter if I'm playing in E4 or M2.. I've searched up some threads about somewhat the same problem except that they could see some loading, and the same advices were provided, which I already tried.

Oh and I'm using Firefox if that helps.

There was a bug about a month ago that caused this problem. It was easier to identify, as other players were experiencing it, and it didnt matter if they used another PC or not, as it always had the same result. This bug was universally fixed at that time.

As you stated, this is not the case with you. You log in from home, it works fine. You log in from work, it doesnt work. That indicates that there is some issue with the work PC causing this for you.

And yes it does matter. If it is a bug it will likely have something to do with an in game mechanic. I will have someone follow this up as soon as I am able just to be sure, but this sounds like an issue localized to your work PC, not a bug.

EDIT: I noticed that you stated that this is happening from a nearby wireless hotspot. This makes me think it is a connectivity issue. Logging in as a new player will require less packets as less activity will be needed on the connection. However, on your own colony you have radar coverages, events and other processes which require more bandwidth. This would explain why logging your own colony would not work, but logging in as a new player would.

If you got the same result no matter where you logged in, it would be much more indicative of a possible bug.

Probably the bug at the wireless side... unless the login server is blocking certain types of connections which I kinda suspect from the beginning i.e. more than 1 connection to the same account which makes it look like account sharing.

Naw. We wont block connections like that. Besides, the forum and the game use the same account system, so if you were being blocked from an httpd level, you would be getting blocked on the forum too.

Has there ever been a case of anti-viruses (specifically Norton?) blocking connections to the login server?

It is possible, yes. Simply disabling it, restarting your browser and trying again will usually tell the tale. I would not recommend any other browsing anywhere else while you do this as you will be vulnerable.

It would be rare, but stranger things than an antivirus disabling a browser based program for causing bandwidth or CPU/RAM usage spikes, have happened ;)

I dont use Norton, so Im not sure what the folks over at Symantec are up to these days.

I wouldn't know either, but there might be something in the newest Norton Internet Security 2011 that's blocking that connection.. my desktop uses 2010 and can log in fine while my laptop uses 2011 and can't log in..
