I had 6 missle silo's, they were all being attacked. So I shot off the missles at the guy attacking, then down graded them to outposts and then razed them. They all turned to camps.

Did they do that because the opposing missle was still inbound?

How do I get the camps to go away?

Yes, when you raze an op with incoming/moving troops, then it will turn into a camp.

Just move your units off and it will disappear.

Also, if a spy is still there I believe it will remain until the spy is off.

Also, not positive on when they exactly disappear never watched how many ticks. But it's not instantaneous they stick around for a while and are capture-able. Completely unnecessary as they do nothing and you can not attack from them though.

No reason to ever send squads towards a camp unless of course you're out of range of another friendly outpost you're needing to reach you can travel to camp then that outpost assuming it's in range.

Nifty trick to know if someone is collecting spy infiltration on your colony is to relocate whether it be next to your colony or across map then raze outpost. If that turns into a camp then you've got a rival trying to harass your colony in the future. Easily avoided if the player is active and watching your colony since it takes 24 ticks + 3 to raze outpost.
*used to work better when relocating would allow left over outpost to not start at tick 0 letting you raze immediately*
