Nothing has to be up, either he simply didn't realize just as Aister didn't realize (even as GM), he made a joke (not the case here), he doesn't fully understand the rules hence didn't realize about Bttb(possible since he hasn't played much and in the past when he did was rather inactive), or last option is he is an idiot.
