OK, so I've been the leader of DS for a bout a week or so, and I'm still a tad new at this. Do you have any tips for a new alliance leader? Anything you got would be helpful and I will be really greatful for the help!

Rage quit before it's too late.

Give orders that people can follow...Don't make them read a huge chunk of text. Also, get a group chat going to get your alliance members to know each other. Will slightly reduce the chance of a backstab. Good luck!

Become a sub of a big alliance, build your army's, wait till best players leave (most of them), then betray the remaing ones! also get skype for instant contact!

I agree that you join sub of decent Alliance if your skills are not the best yet. However, if you betray your side, your reputation will decrease and everyone will hate you. I believe "matmanmax" is being sarcastic.

Be active. If you aren't your members won't be, and those that are will find better alliances.

Set your member a chassis and a build (i.e. everyone build infantry to armour/range: 7/3, or another build of your choice). Also if you have all your layer build the same type of armour (conc) it will spread the damage dealt to you in mass fights, more evenly. Meaning you can rebuild the lost power faster from all of your players.

Best tip besides this though, is confidence. There's a fine line between being cocky and confident, but if you get it right it will set your members at ease, and help them trust in you, and your decisions. Oh, and be willing to listen to your members questions/concerns.

Assuming you aren't conquered, here's some advice.

Find the best alliance in your area. One that you think will finish in the top 3. DON'T become their sub. But negotiate with them. They most likely will have "bigger fish to fry" in other continents. Tell them that you intend to be friendly with them and that your alliance will help defend the continent/area if any of their enemies invade. Sound as inteligent as you can. And accept the fact that you can't have all of the metal mines and oil wells you want. You will likely have to let the big alliance take them.

If all goes well, your area will be relatively safe after they secure it and you put up some nukes for defence. After this you can expand (not in the same direction as your new friends) and take some metal and oil mines at way.

But keep in mind, don't be a pushover. If you can keep that up for 1 era, and either "survive" without getting wiped out. Or prove yourself in battle. The friendship may extend into the next era. And people will recognise you.

After a couple of eras you will likely lose and gain a few members. And you may be ready to attempt bigger things, rather than playing it safe. There are many "small" alliances who don't play for 1st place that have gained my respect by doing that, and some of them can fight like hell. Try to be one of those alliances.

Feel free to message me in-game if you ever see me for advice or whatever.
