I've returned to this game after a few years of absence and I've missed all of the changes, I was intending to just mass up an army but it seems the upkeep is getting in the way of this. Am I to just put up with this restricted fun, considering my army is half than that of the nearby powerhouses D:?

This stops people with huge incomes from building up 100 times faster than other players.

In short, if there was no upkeep all every player with a moderate income would have a 300 power army in no time at all.

The upkeep makes sense to me. It has hardly bothered me so far either. It takes quite a while to get significantly past 100 units anyway.

When I came back from being gone for 2 years... I HATED UPKEEP!!!

It ruined my life.

My whole life.

Then when it got over 150%.... I died inside.

Luckily, my opponents died in game.

Upkeep helps to balance the game, but it is a buzz kill when you're on top of the world. It always seems no matter how many resources you bring in a tick you can't make more than one or two squads a day.

BUT if you lose many of them in a battle, you'll be amazed at just how quickly you can recover units when the upkeep plummets, and your intake remains.
