I believe the definition is to attack or conquer a colony that someone else is attacking, but timing your attack so it arrives before yours (so you get the conquer and any crystals the colony has). This is usually frowned on.

if someone is already attacking something, you send equal or more troops to attack it. That way would get whatever, a conquer or a op, whatever

Definatly do not snipe, people can get kicked from alliences if they do it a lot. Its very anoying. Its sending squads so they arrive a bit before hand, or sending more squads to steal the conquer.

There is actually one tactical occasion to snipe. If you would like to start a war, and not look like the bad guy sniping is sometimes the way to go. It'll annoy the other person/alliance into attacking you, and since after it's happened there's really not alot of proof, it can look like they're the big bad attackers.

This can be useful if you're trying to get support from others. But is still on the "dirty" side and will not work more than once or twice a round. But it is a reason and option. It's not as bad as backstabbing, but it won't make you many friends just the same.

LOL  Nah, I don't use it myself. I've had it done to me though and I'll admit it made me look like a real jerk.

If I wanna start a war... I just send a msg. Usually, it looks something like this.

Hi, my I'm Spyda from inFamous Society, I :
(like the area you currently hold. You have 30 ticks to vacate it.)
Or
(would like for you to join us. Don't worry about your current alliance, they'll be gone soon.)

And I sign all my official msgs

~Spyda

Then we go to work.

There was only one exception to this *whom I won't name*, but upon realizing my error, I offered them all compensation in one way or another.

By the time our soon to be enemies get the msg, we haven't attacked but, the wars over. We're in position and are more than ready for whatever they may try. ;) At least that's the plan.
