Hi, im new to the game and was wondering about spies.

What are the chances of getting caught. what *exactly* is a spy war.

whats the best time to use spies. Questions like that. I think a guide to spies would be grand.

Spies get caught if the spy protection is greater than the infiltration ticks.

The Best Time to use spies, are wars. You can spread viruses and lockdown ops with squads piling on it. Try to tell your alliance to plant your spies early, most pros add spy protection on their gathering point.

Good info, thanks

But i still have a few questions.

First off exactly what is a spy war, and how does a spy war work. is it the spy with greater inf ticks, does the colony have any effect on the spy clash etc etc.

Also spies can reduce infantry to 1hit point and damgage vehicles and such...how long does that last? Do you use this right before the tick of a fight, when your troops will reach the target? how does this work?

here's the scene:

you have your own spy in your colony let's say it's been there for 300 inf, then an enemy of yours sent you a spy and it's been there for 50 inf.. now when he make a move of using his spy to damage your units/burn your oil/kill your workers etc.. that is the time "spy wars/spy battle takes place.. and the spy who got more infiltrations will win.

i suggest that you recruit your spy as early as possible in the game and keep it in your colony to avoid being attacked by a spy and it sucks..

Thanks BlackRevolution and shadow51981. Your posts cleared up a lot of the confusion.

And thanks Jack, the wiki helped a lot! I think i got the gist of spies now.

Just one question remains, When i activate a spy ability to hurt the mechs or take all infantry to 1 hit point, how long does that last? Should i wait until my attack force is one tick away before using these powers?

I have tried experimenting but my spies keep getting caught during the operations :(

Depends on where the units are. They stay at 1HP if they arent on an op or their colony. If the owner of the affected unit/s keeps them in his/her op or colony, 1HP is healed every tick. Thats why spy attacks should be made 1 tick be4 the attack, or as close to the battle tick as you can.
