My usual start is this:

Food/Metal/Oil to level3 off the tutorial resources.

Food4
Metal4
Food5
Oil4
Metal5
Oil5
Energy1->5

Then start on military structures.

Hmm okay... Thanks for the example Constancy!

And I see what you mean Tenkai, but I don't think attacking will be in my plans at that point so Barracks is a nill idea until after I've set up my resources.

I tried going crazy fast with military twice now and both times I ended up better if I just let myself be conquered for 200 ticks and then broke out with my resource structures built, while the free bonus was still in effect.

I agree with the placement of energy too. I was setting up to level two energy on all my colonies for a while just to get the ball rolling but you don't really need energy until you are in combat, or trying to actively protect something.

it helps you're more open to experimentation.perhaps you'll find a build that surpasses alll :P

That's the idea...

Been doing experimentation (imperfectly) on G1.

Seems Metal 4 MUST come before Food 5 due to a massive lack of Oil.

That depends on how agressive you start, I vary my order depending on various factors, so I dont have a "standard" one.

Try it yourself. I haven't had any time to let the oil build up and make an excess since I started this colony. In general it seems it's easier to get metal but you use it a lot more than oil so there is a superficial excess of Oil when you aren't moving around

My actual name means "Mighty Warrior" Or "Mighty Army" Depending upon translation. I try to live up to that.
