Check out the wiki article on gates Here

Basically you need a gate from both your destination and your start, click on a gate then you will see the option to gate for energy :)

Well first, here are some things about gates.


To gate from your colony you have to have the level 5 gate structure built.

Also, all gates must have 24 control ticks to work, meaning that you must own a gate at least 24 ticks before you are able to use it.

Gating takes energy.

You can only gate if the squads you want to transport are sitting in a gate or colony.

Now, if you want to use a gate, select the squad or spy you wish to gate and click on another gate. A thing on the lower right squad orders that says jump to gate will appear. Click on that and viola. Sorry if I made things complicated more than simplified.



Oh and do what Goldenpaw says as well.
