Someone tried a spy attack on my colony, my own spy caught and killed him but doesn't reveal the origins of the spy attack.. is this supposed to happen or is the wiki lying to us all along?

Wiki is terribly out of date.

If you capture a hostile spy with spy protection, it doesn't tell you who did it.
If you capture a hostile spy with your own spy, it tells you who it was.

Perhaps it's the other way around, or it was changed so both methods keep the attacker in secret. Either way the Wiki is wrong! lol

If you capture a spy with spy protection it tells you where the spy came from.

If your spy captures a spy with infiltration points it doesn't.

Wiki has it backwards. But to be honest the Wiki version makes more sense. Since in reality spies are probably better at torture and interrogation, so they'd be able to get the truth. Unlike the workers you just have hanging out at your base with pitchforks.

Hmm, what if you have both spy protect and your own spy's infiltration? Higher value of spy protect than your spy's infiltration would be able to reveal the hostile spy's owner?

Sorry for the late reply.

I don't know to be honest. I believe that before it affects your spy protection the enemy spy must overcome your spies infiltration points.

So either they have more infiltration points and win the spy battle, but get busted by your protection. (since their infiltration points will be extremely low) In which case you find out who they are.

Or

They lose the spy battle because of your spies infiltration points (without affecting your spy protection) and you don't know who sent the attacking spy.

I don't think there's any way for it to end up in a toss up between the two, it's one line of defense. then another. Of course this is just the way I believe it to work. I have an era that's nearing it's end, so we'll perform a few tests to find out exactly what the mechanics are. I'll let you know for sure.

it's the first one. must overcome spy's infiltration points first. however, sometimes even spy protection doesn't reveal a spy. I've caught spies both ways and haven't seen who sent the spy in either situation

What I was saying is those are the two possible outcomes for catching a spy. Not two different ways it could work.

But are you sure about the 2nd part. Because everytime I've ever caught a spy with protection it told me who it came from... I know because I rarely ever have my spy on my colony so when someone tries an attack, I send them a msg, followed by a nuke, and a large squad. (To show the error of their ways). ;)

I couldn't do my routine if it didn't always tell me who it was.
