Separate the multiplayer game into multiple ladders based on how much money a player has spent. There should at least be a no-pay ladder, if you have never purchased tokens then this is the ladder you compete on. If you have spend between x and y amount, then there is ladder 2. If you spent more than y amount, then you move up to ladder 3.
This way, the people with the all mythic builds from spending large amounts will compete only against each other. The winners can be rewarded with great stuff, because they're paying to play.
The people making the best mechs they can from the random stuff they get in the small number of mythic chests they can earn from the campaign and playing regularly should compete against each other. The winners at this level should not get as great rewards, because the game does want to provide some motivation for people to play. But getting high in the ladder and winning a tournament can still be possible for someone with good strategy and some luck.
