I think that weight is frustrating and hard to deal with. So here are some solutions to help cope with it.
I think that there should be variations with the weight of individual players. For example lets say there is a new player that is at XP level 1 he\she would only have 150 weight, once they reach XP level 2 he\she would have 215 weight, and a level 30 player would have 1500 weight. This would help people cope with their weight as they became more advance. It would also help give XP more purpose besides the occasional weapon slot.
I think you should also add a new dynamic to the weight system by adding gravity modules, gravity modules would go in the top module slots and would have negative weight. this way you could use them to lower a mechs wait thus making room for more items.
Lets face it, the fusion system is practically useless unless you can buy a bunch of tokens for power kits. you could improve the fusion system by making it so every level earned takes away one lb. from the item. this small change would give the fusion system a whole new purpose and help players deal with their mechs weight.
I am sure this system has flaws and if you (the SM board) considers adding these changes into the game feel free to tweak them as you like.
