Yuke's is a popular fighting game company and when they made the Real Steel game they had a system where when you upgraded legs or motors your weight increased. But legs that carried more weight were usually slower. And though Super Mechs doesn't have the super complex stat system Real Steel has it could be be done with attack and mobility.

Right now you have to think about what you're going to sacrifice (whether it be top weapons, a few side weapons, no shield..) to get your mech to work. In the future though, there is a possibility of a 1200kg weight limit which will allow you to add more to your mech Which I get but it's way too much weight for low levels and too little for high levels. It's not scaled with everything else so it feels less like a strategic restriction to think about and more of an arbitrary limit to help cheaply balance weapons when they're over powered.

High weight on strong weapons is as good of a way to balance it as anything else, simply because it's "not enough", and it's not supposed to be enough either. I might agree that there is an argument to be made about it being "to much" weight for lower levels, meaning it is less strategic, but what soulution is there for a good way to slowly increase the weight?

Other Robot fighting games have used legs as a way to increase weight. Stronger higher level legs can carry more weight. And often times these legs offered less mobility or reduced other stats than other legs of that level. Most high level legs short of the ultra stompers can walk 1 block and jump 2. Removing the jump for a higher weight load may be worth it for some people and for other people it'd be too much of a handicap. Anyform of weight scaling would be helpful though because wight kind of comes out of nowhere because up until about level 22 I just swapped out parts and then all of a sudden a warning popped up telling me my bot was too heavy.

Might as well have no weight at all

Theirs a lot of truth to that, and good point to what you said on my post.
