The likelyhood of this idea getting shot down is about 80%.

MOVING ON.

What if you could have not two, but FOUR PLAYERS IN A BATTLE AT ONCE????
Recently, I've been thinking about how cool it would be if you could have a "coop-multiplayer" option. Meaning, two players on one team fighting two players on another team. It'd be really fun, but a lot of thought would be needed to put into this idea.
Here's how I invision it would work:
A new mechanic would be added where you could request to pair up with a player. I think it would be good if the player had to be in the same clan and had to be the EXACT same level. Once paired up, the two would be taken into a new chatroom called "Coop." Here, paired players would be able to fight other pairs (also same level range).
The battle arena might need to be extended, due to having four players in the same arena. MOVEMENT: Pairs cannot stay in the same place, but they can pass by each other (example, a mech with treads could pass by its teammate, but it cannot stop in the same spot [a mech with 1 walking range would not be able to pass a teammate]). However, mechs cannot pass by enemy mechs unless jumping. ATTACKING: A new mechanic would be added where you select the mech you wish to attack before firing. Attacks are passive with teammates (passes by teammate if they are in the way of opponent). Also, there would need to be a counter in the top center of the screen telling which player goes next. KILLS: The Finishing Move Interface wouldn't exactly work with this idea... The match only ends if both mechs on the opposing team are destroyed, or quit (if one mech tries to quit, the other mech receives a message to agree or disagree). REWARDS: Since defeating two mechs is harder than defeating one, the rewards of winning a battle would be 1250 credits for winning, and still 250 for losing (people would farm if losing was 500).
One major flaw of this idea though is, knockback. I can't really figure out how the knockback would work. If a mech is knocked back into another mech, does that one get knocked back too? Or does the mech being attacked stop right in front of the mech behind?

I dunno. Stupid but fun idea, right?

Is this a necrobump? Because if it is, sorry for bumping this thread.

I do think that this idea might work out good, but the problem, as you would say, is Knockback. One might get a team with high-range knockbacking weapons, making the other team not able to move through some sort of "Pendulum-styled manner".

I will also list some suggestions to your idea.

1) The "Exact same level and same clan" thing might not really work out, some do not have a clan which is decent enough. So I think it could be changed to just the "Same level range" type, with these ranges-
  • Level 1 - 2
  • Level 3 - 5
  • Level 6 - 9
  • Level 10 - 14
  • Level 15 - 18
  • Level 19 - 22
  • Level 23 - 26
  • Level 27 - 30
This would allow the players with overall the same gear to be put in together. After Level 15, though, there are still level ranges, as each time you level up, you get some credits, which can then be used to buy Item Boxes. Thus, to prevent an advantage of money increasement, that happens.

2) For knockback, you can probably have it so that if a mech knocks into another one, it knocks that one back equally too. Thus, if you were to use a 2 knockback weapon on one mech, and it hits the other, that one will also be shot back by 2 squares/tiles/range whatever you want to call it.

But, if one of them is ALREADY in a corner, with the other one right in front of him, the knockback will simply not activate, and just act like a regular weapon. Also, if you use a 3 knockback weapon on a mech in this manner (The battlefield probably might have 15 squares.)

_ B _ C _ _ A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

So C will be knocked back 2 _, while B will be knocked back one, as B is one _ near the edge of the battlefield, while C is 3 _. So, as B occupies the space at the end, so C will be knocked back by two _. So, you should get the idea from this.

Guns should have a stat that shows the percent chance of the knocked back mech hitting his teammate. Also, I think friendly mechs should be able to stand on the same tile except that there are different layers (2 layers exactly) and the camera is slightly tilted so the players can see their mech if its they own the mech on the back layer.
EXAMPLE OF LAYERS- if you played Little Big Planet, you can change layers using the sack boy (That is one of the best ways of explaining it for gamers)
