right now, players are accustomed to the famed unbeatable lucifer lvl 23 build. I am going to go and say that this has become a cheap way to level and money up, whenever there's noone to play I put up a Lucifer and go shooting fish in a barrel.
one of the reasons for this is that any noob can advance up to 20th level if he plays for a day, easily.
however I believe there are enough expirienced players of SM to set the lowest level cap at 33, at least.
what say you??1

The same will go for lv 33, people will buy lv 33 stuff and go noob farm at that lv. The noobs will be safe from high lv players for another day or two, but that's it. Here is my counter-offer: new players will fight against each other until the hit a total matches number of 200(or something better can be discussed) and than they will move up and fight against other people that has fought 200 or more battles. Only ladder matches will count, so this can give a player the time to set a proper build before he starts to fight with good players...

ok, set the level at 45 (at least a week of intensive gameplay)
your idea is also good

It does seem to me that there should be a level 30 or 33 limit too. But players should also be warmed in level up screens about the next level cap before they reached it something like; 'you reached level 15, and can play at any level between level 10 and level 20, after level 20 you will be able to play at level 20 to level 30.' It will serve to protect newbies from the pros, even though 20-30's will be able to farm with Lucifer torso for a while, they will then become the pray at level 30 - thats the cycle of life in Mech's. Having been a farmer at 23 for a while, they should be sufficiently switched on to get the cash for a level 30+ (33) build before hitting the cap - if not, then they learn the hard way It will also importantly serve to force a viable population at level 33 (ish). While I agree with TheS about number of battles, it would be hard to enforce without a level cap system, we could still have level 23 build domination of population, even though the new players would be protected, it wouldnt force the numbers playing at 30+ up. I believe forcing the number of players using higher builds for PvP upwards away from the 23 build is a good thing.

I don't like this idea to much besides that it would increase players playing at higher levels.
It will end up just like the level 20 range, but a lot worse for players who just reach that level range. The reason is that the players who just reach level 30 will not have the 2x grapple hook, teleport, and/or charge available for use like the other higher level players they will be matched with.
I think level 30 is not a good cut off area.... level 25 would probably be a better area for a cut off point. Players who just reach level 25 will still have a hard time fighting higher level opponents, but at least they will not be forced to deal with players who have 2x grapple, teleport, and/or charge.
Also, the Lucifer mech may not become so much of an issue anymore, but will probably lead to the gladiator mech becoming the "new" Lucifer at the level 25 range....

I voted yes, but it would make just as much sense for programmers to adjust Lucifer chassis attributes downward & improve other chassis to be competitive. There hasn't been a meaningful update in awhile & it's beginning to get frustrating. I've thought about opening a premium account but a lack of programmer attention has caused me to hold off. Yeah, it is not fair on the poor players who just tick from 20 to 21 and have no money left and are stuck with level 15 gear or something which they used for matchmaking level 15, and they can't afford many rares at all around there, then here comes all the level 23 farmers that swoop in and kill them all.
another big problem of this is the rares are far too expensive and newbies can barely afford one, I think the price for rares should be halved. Also the sell value on items is a bit crappy, only getting 25% back off something that took a while for you to earn, but you have to swap it for better stuff.
Anyway, 3 things to help noobs are: increase lowest level cap decrese rare item prices improve sell value of items

Random thought that comes to my mind is if matching took into account the value of the mechs but I am sure that could be a pain to code.

Perhaps something that be hashed out more its non-beta release. For now however, I believe there may not be enough players to match based on value – at least certain mechs might be waiting a long long time for a fight.
