I do not disagree that we should increase involvement on forums, but I do not think we should hold ideas hostage to increase involvement. I myself say all that I can on a particular thread and wait for others to respond.
If bumping was aloud, at least more people would return. With the exception of the last couple days, ever since I joined this forum, I feel there has been a trend of less enthusiasm on the forums. Do we need more involvement? Absolutely.

Could you flesh this point out a little more? I never said I want others to stop voting, quite the contrary (just because a threshold is broken, does NOT mean voting needs to stop). In fact, if there is more incentive for each vote to count, then there is a higher turnout. During the mid to late 19th Century in America, the voting turnout would reach well over 80 %, however it is been almost a half century since the voting turnout was over 60 % (both for popular elections). Many people in recent times have become more disillusioned in the importance of their vote.
Preferential or ranked voting systems (such as Instant-runoff Voting or Single-transferable vote) give more involvement in the decision making process.
Here is a streamlined version of my line of thinking so that dissenting arguments will be easier to create in the future:
Suggestion: Improve the voting system on SM forums
P1: Users are complaining about the efficacy of the voting process.
P2: Many of these complaints derive from the voting threshold needed to pass on suggestions to the devs.
P3: There are currently many polls that are just under the limit of "yes" votes to make it to the devs.
P4: Very little is know of what is to come of suggestions once devs are consulted.
P5: Users have no knowledge of how suggestions are prioritized for the devs (assumably first come, first serve).
P6: As threads continue to be created, older threads die out.
P7: This means that luck becomes a powerful determinant in ascertaining which suggestions actually break the threshold.
P8: There is currently no database created to store past votes for threads for either individuals or the collective to view.
∴ Something should be done to maximize the utility (happiness) of everyone (such as creating a more democratic voting system).
edit: By the way, is there any reason to close a thread once an idea makes it way to the devs. If we come up with more ideas, can they not click on the thread/be debriefed on a pressing new suggestion (not a regular thing, but when it is worthwhile)?
