ok so lately im seeing time and time again great suggestions get unanimous yes votes from every1 that is here but getting 30 has become extremely rare i say we bring down the amount of yes votes to be 15 more than explained no votes for something to pass. it's a real shame great suggestions arent getting passed because not enough people are here to vote

As I said when you brought this up before, this accomplishes nothing what needs to be addressed is pulling players into the forums. We have achieved 30 votes and we still can so no this should not be changed. I also remember you wanting to do this in bd saying it was practically impossible to reach 30 votes, we have passed tons of suggestions there and we have enough here to pass suggestions. Be patient for things to pass, just because it doesn't happen in 2 days doesn't mean we should reduce the amount of votes required.

If there was a poll, I'd be voting 'yes' to the suggestion. Its not like everything that gets the yes vote at this level will be implemented, it just means it can be passed on for consideration by the higher ups, right? The issue that there are not enough players on the forum should not cause the secondary issue that the players suggestions are lost simply because there aren't enough forum-users to vote 'yes' to a great idea. IMO.

Maybe this is just the polite way the devs can say "we are getting more suggestions faster than we can code." Maybe the 30 is meant to weed out most suggestions. I am pretty sure that the head mods and admins are aware of the posting rate/size of SM community.
Perhaps we have gotten 30 votes before, and perhaps it might happen again. Perhaps. Sounds like a great demotivator to me though.

I do feel for the devs, it is hard to handle a lot of requests all at once (the main reason I never want to introduce a new idea). I think there needs to be a more streamlined decision-making process. Perhaps some IRV voting from the board per passing day. Not sure too much on how it works, but I know it cannot be easy managing such a disjoint group of employees. I will end as I started; I really feel for the devs.

Perhaps we have gotten 30 votes before, and perhaps it might happen again. Perhaps. Sounds like a great demotivator to me though. It is in no way meant to discourage the community, it is as others have said simply a filter. We have no problem keeping ideas alive and getting the votes required, we have done so in the past and will do so again in the future. The problem many people have is a lack of patience in my opinion, just because something is not moved to popular suggestions in a couple of days does not mean we need to reduce the amount of votes needed to do so.

I recognize it is a filter, but I think the efficacy of this filter has some faults. Okay, here is my tweak to lilconquer's suggestion then.
Either A) limit the amount of votes per user per day, and limit the vote ceiling to a lower number
OR B) make people rank their overall votes in separate section, so that the admins con recognize votes based on priority (as well as reducing the cap).
Both are filters, but both filter prematurely, giving the voter more control on what suggestions are most important to them, and ultimately a BETTER pool of ideas that make it to the devs.
By the way Korupt, I know I have taken the opposite stance on most discussions we have had, but I do want to say for the record that I do appreciate the points you make. More often than not, I understand things but do not address them, leaving my points weaker than they are strong. The holes you find in my points only serve to make my points stronger, hopefully, if I may be so bold, make yours as well!

Well there is no way for us to limit the votes of players nor do we want to. If the votes of players were to be limited it would limit involvement in decision making not encourage it. The biggest thing I am seeing people are not getting here is by limiting votes needed we are not accomplishing anything simply sweeping an issue under the rug so to speak. We need to find ways to increase involvement on the forums and in suggestions not decrease what we need to get something passed.
