So the main weakness of this newly buffed weapon will be the infernal axes/lava sprayer combo, as players using the axes will be able to pin down the players using the MS (Metal Shredder) to range 1, un-abling them to use the weapon. (If you think about it)
It's obvious that mechs will have a rock/paper/scissor mechanism wherein:
Physical beats Energy
Energy beats Heat
Heat beats Physical
People will then be forced to have thoughts on making their next move (particularly those with Metal Shredders)
Here are also some advantages the armor breaker has:
It has far more range than of the MS
Doesn't generate heat
Has Knockback (which will be really useful in certain circumstances)
There are also people using the old rocket mech where it is using a Death Punch/Fire Wall/Back Stabber Mk. II which can annihilate Metal Shredders due to the high heat and insane damage it deals.
So yes, there are many ways to counter it, it just needs the right minds to operate it.

Now the battles in Super Mechs will be taken to the next level. Newly buffed weapons, developing newer and more creative mech builds with the newly buffed weapons, and more! It's just great!
Just a quick note here, you know that needle has 2-4 reach as well, so you need to think about it either way.
Another note: armor breaker has only 1 use, this one has unlimited and it uses way less ammo. i already see a lot of build with double shredder, leaving out the armor breaker.
Double lava spray? just pop on 3 heat controls and your set, pop on another rocket module which doesnt even have to be a mythical because of the low use of rockets.
Still got 3 left for armor modules.
Also, it is WAY lighter than the needle and does double damage, this is by far the best physical item in the game which literally SHREDS through heat, energy and easily through physical builds.
Heat: pop on 2 heat controls, and you still do the massive damage of around 260 + drone.
Energy? easy peasy, it doesnt use energy
Physical build? it kills double needle, armor breakers and ultranova's and physical monster.
Just to prove some things here: it already is being overused at this point of time just 12 hours after the update.
This shows how good the item is: you only need one ammo module and you're set for a game. also deals MORE damage than an armor breaker, which again uses more bullets and has one use. Doesnt use energy, makes space for more modules to pop on because of the low ammo consumption resulting in high cooldown.
