Don't tell anyone in advance, don't even put something in the newsfeed for when you've logged in.

You should just make it completely random what level shields and weapons and types of weapons and torsos you get. Give people no choice in determining what items to buy and no ability to supplement their build.

Do it on April Fools to catch all the people who didn't buy tons of mythical/gold boxes/gold so that all the small spenders can't flesh out their mech.

It'll really be a hoot.
