these days I rarely put the shield up
has anyone considered the advantages of using shield 1 vs using shield 4 at higher levels, say 40 and up? it protects less, however it shields for longer because it doesn't eat up the energy
just a thought

just a thought Just do the math. Energy Shield 1 = 20% protection at the cost of 1 energy for 2 damage. Energy Shield 4 = 50% protection at the cost of 1 energy for 1 damage. For example, if opponent does you 100 damage then, Energy Shield 1 = 80 HP & 10 energy lost. Energy Shield 4 = 50 HP & 50 energy lost. In 5 hits (500 dmg), Energy Shield 1 = In total of 400 HP & 50 energy lost. Energy Shield 4 = In total of 250 HP & 250 energy lost. If you don't plan to increase your energy capacity or you have weapons that are needing energy go for weaker shields. But at that up high, having a better shield does help since weapon damage is pretty high. Also, the key using better shields is to have nice energy capacity and regeneration. -- Aeacus

Today I was playing a certain Ahmet Boran at lvl 27 (he was 29), beating him with some effort. He must have been exasperated to see me return at lvl 33, as we got matched again due to lvl bracket. 2 tactics I used to get his shield down: at lvl 27, I would teleport behind him and hit with knockback sword. My energy daining drone usually got it to zero from about 70. Now, at lvl 33 I also had the shield breaker. Pathetic damage but gives a nice surprise, even to a player with 110 energy capacity. Now, the one player who beat me today (and easily) was Soviet Machine, who is an impenetrable mountain of a mech. None of my tricks had worked... I can only hope we hear from him one day on the forum

just a thought Hi, I used a level 1 shield against you, that is why you couldn't drain it through damage. I consider it to be more effective than level 4 shield for mechs lower than 33.

I am always changing up the variations on each build, however I've found that I'm too low in HP with lotsa resistancies. I've compensated and learned to fight without a shield, however I think lvl 1 shield might be the missing piece of the puzzle, so to speak. they're 20 grand a piece on an unrelated note, here's an interesting matchup did anyone see that old Van Damme film "Double Impact"? in it he fight his evil twin, also played by Van Damme using the best cut scene effects and stuntmen the 90s could provide in the end the twins join forces and kick some henchmen ass in the end of THIS movie tho, someone gets deflowered, I won't say who let it be a surprise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GlKr8Fr_2U&list=PLz5pbZkWjeuJhmncDEnr-aV5Ssou--_gn

I made my lvl 29 build identical to the 22
chose the strongest weapons for all ranges (very important) and balanced that Gladiator out. it's missing hitpoints and its recovery is less then satisfying, however it's working just like the Lucifer as far as play style is concerned. the question is... are 2 swords at higher levels overrated?

My tactic: Kiss of death, if you have more swords than your opponent, they can't kill you in melee, all they can do is push you away and run. PS. You need a good amount of health and heat capacity. Kiss of Death
