At least a message for everyone to see the next time they log in saying that there will be a tournament and registrations are in this topic that can be found at the "News & Announcements" of this forum...

The only problem with putting it on the "News and Announcements" section is that when people search for new posts, they can usually go click on "Supermechs Community Discussion" to see the highest concentration of new posts, often forgetting about checking for updates in the "Administration and Support" section, which is often quite slower in updating.

I scan the forums and post more or less every day - but this whole thread slipped past me.

Sign me up please; BigDaddy

Questions, just to be clear;

So, if two players are matched for best of 5 are you suggesting they take turns in deciding the maximum mech level? First match one player sets the limit, then the other does, regardless of who won the first match?

If he sets level 23, then the maximum is 23 so I can be any level I like upto but not above that level (23 in the example). So doing would give me the first two turns, if I under level him, and would be allowed.

What happens about 'first turn' if both are equal level? We just leave it in the lap of the gods, or do we have a 'gentlemans agreement' in place?
I think there was some discussion of this in the other tournaments thread, but we should have a clear ruling to avoid bad feeling. Particularly as there is a bug which often means a player who should start with 1 turn gets two.
For un-equal levels, its simple; lowest mech gets first two turns.
What about equal level mechs tho?

Will we have a gentlemans agreement in place regarding the maximum level owned by any participant? Other wise those of us with high level mechs have an unfair advantage if the other guy cant buy a high level mech.

Good luck to all, your gonna need it if you meet me in the tournament

Yes you switch off in the choosing.. the winner of the previous battle does not affect it...

If you have an equal level mech.. I honestly feel that you should get one turn and that you should cool down one time if they offer you two.. that's how I play and it's not exploiting a glitch.. I'll confirm on that soon though..

maybe do a poll to see if the players (or just participants) think mods should be allowed to play. I agree with SideoneDummy that the mods hold enough respect amongst the players that we'd prefer them to be allowed to play.

Rupert, just curious. Are kits still allowed in tourneys? I personally would appreciate it if they were not, but if they are allowed, I completely would understand.

Just curious …

Also, BigDaddy, if you read the earlier posts (I know reading really old posts sometimes is very confusing, at least it is for me) TheSingular made a point about fighting an opponent that is a lower level than you; to keep things fair, there be an alternation between the earlier opponent getting two first turns, and one first turns. Whereas, if your opponent is the same level as you, you both alternate who gets the first turn.

However, if we randomly pick a maximum level, and levels in the fight are random as well, then all this goes void.

Hate to have to shamelessly bump this, but there are only 6 people in the tourney! 6 people! 3rd place is the 50th percentile! The only good thing about having only 6 people in the tournament is the fact that I can guarantee that I will win it effortlessly. 8-)
