Heres a better guide
Step one: Place colony
Step two: Break protection -so you gain more resources-
Step three: Go to work.
Step four: Come home
Step five: Go to sleep
Step Six: Repeat steps 3-5
I have done this in sub alliances and ended in the top 300 logging in never making a structure about once a week

I think that guide is more geared toward players who have already joined a sub. Whereas mine is tuned specifically to those who wish or intend to join a sub.
So yes, Slinky's guide is a good addition to mine as a "what to do if you find yourself with a tongue on someones boot" section.
