it's like standing in the stage, when u have an imaginary wall where the audiences are, that's the fourth wall. Breaking the fourth wall is an act of refering or interacting with the audiences, for pure entertainment.

I've watched a film when a guy was racing like crazy and he nearly hit a car. When the car driver ask wat was he doing, he told him he was acting in a movie, it's called ***** by *%$( Production. It's also an act of breaking the fourth wall.
