well they are repedive and Dump jokes about sexual difrences, farting, kids doing dump stuff, pullying etc.

in anime there are slice of life jokes what ou get only when you have watched the previous 20 episodes cause only then you get to know the characters ..

in any before mentioned american cartoons have original charactes that are so unique that you have to inspect him more than 2 episodes to know what he is

and batman is not anime....

You mean repetitive? And dumb? And sexual references not 'difrences'? At least say your argument right if you're going to argue at all.

No. Actually, just last night, an episode of the Simpsons was on and it was about the presidential election. The presidential election. Not about 'sexual difrences' or 'pullying'. They also utilize controversy masterfully. I don't know about you, but I've never seen a request for an anime show to shut down forever due to it's controversial content.

I think this is a stalemate because you'll never watch American animation and I'll never watch anime. I have more important things to worry about than anime, trust me.

what would you consider a good anime?

edit: didn't wanna double post
also, out of curiosity, does anime have to be based on a comic? or is all japanese animated film considered anime?

x2 post dont worry hapens ...

no there are animes based on novels too
and some animes are not based on manga/Comic (Most of them suck)

and yes all animation from japan is anime
animation from america & elsewere is called cartoon

i consider anime good when i'm having a emotional link with one of the characters...
or i cry because of it
or i am going crazy waiting for the next episode cause of the epic situation it's going throught
but most importantly it has to have a solid & unique story witch means
eye catching intro...
solid and detailed char development (i mean like you have all the answers for every chars age, school, family, little lifestory, personality, why is she/he like that, etc)
no random episodes (Un-plot related episodes)
and a good ending what you'll memorize

anything else

so, like, would the movie Spirited Away be considered anime, or Howl's Moving Castle, or My Neighbor Totoro? Pretty sure all those were originally released in Japan and not American knock offs, and they're all animated movies not based on comics

Yes i know them all
and i know that they are not based on comics

i must change 1 word in the sentance what i wrote

Quote:
and some anime serials are not based on manga/Comic (Most of them suck)

serials are 12 to 24/26 or up to 56 or even 500+ episoded long stories

when talking about film it's another thing ...

to make a movie it has to be around 2 hours max
so you have to press as much content there as possible so everything seems a bit off there's not onought this and that so overall everything is a bit lower rating there ...
but the story can uphold the enjoyment

i personaly liked Howl's Moving Castle the most of them cause of the setting witch were abstract/magical world
and the age shift was well done too and in the end you felt moved by the characters actions...
that's a good story...

if you like theese old classics i recomend Princess Mononoke witch were the most costy film of it's age .. first one to ever use 3D rendering ...
overall is speaks of a prince of a village who gets toxicated by a demon and then goes on a travel to free himself from it and meets with a wolfprincess who is a human girl...

or Akira 100% handdrawn full lenght movie with epic sounds.. it was made in 1988 and still hits the waves in anime production a golden classic It has Post apocalyptic setting where military is in control of everything and cities are rebeling and then a emotionaly weak teen named Tetsuo gets in conflict with military and gets taken by them. later they find out that Tetsuo has Psycis Powers and the end battle is Awesome (careful it's quite a mouth full)

tell me if you want anything more
