The biggest cause for new player drop out is being conquered.
they think they lost the game and quit

That's what i'm trying to mend.

None of you realize that this will help the game in the end nothing has changed except that now you have to be a little more active and you have to be early on the start to attack resource out posts plus it takes most reasons for being a multi away

I think the thing is that many of the non-boosters rely on the taxation of the newbs to keep up with the boosters and such... yeah resource ops help but not as much as tax...

Conquering has always been one of the great features of the game

yes but now they are boosting the taxation and putting it in the crystals and resource out posts taxation has not been changed or taken away just moved to another thing.

I think due to the low update rate in the past year, the community forgot how BD used to be.

Its a feature we're testing, if we see it works good, we keep it
if not, we revert back. just like its always been in the first years of BD.

And according to that, we'll change more features.
all these changes only add more challenge to keeping up with gameplay & strategy changes.

do you remember any year BD was the same as the previous year? ;)

What would help for that is explaining them about being conquered better. You don't lose anything if you get conquered, but most still think they lose 10% of their income due to faulty information.

And if that's really the point, what about simply renaming the being conquered? "Your resource production got taken over, you now pay a tribute every tick. You don't lose any resources yourself, but you can't take over resource production while your own resource production isn't in your own hands!"

Not a perfect way to phrase it, but still. Just send them an automated PM when they get conquered that this isn't the end of the game, they aren't losing anything.

but u have to remember all of the boosters will get the crystals first without any conquers it will be slow getting to the power of 30 without taxation we wont have enough resources to build range? how do u expect us to get the crystals? how do u expect us to compete with the boosters?

Conquering and recieving taxation is what Battledawn IS..... so for the love of god just change the name of the game if you are going to keep removing what IS the CORE of the game.

There is difference between changing the things in the game and changing what IS the game.

Income always come from Crystals, Mines/wells and Conquers all the time. In this case, they are taking away 1 source of Income which gives 1 of the biggest Resources in BD :P

I am or rather was one of the biggest boosters in BD. On the face of it this update should make me smile, as it basically takes away the early advantage of very active offensive players and makes my boosting all the more efficient and deadly.

But I must say it is in fact a bad update for everyone...it kills the incentive for the non-boosting active pros, it makes the very act of conquering someone useless and thus defeats the very core idea of Battle dawn, while making it so much easier for boosters to dominate any server. Skill and strategy are out the door more and more in BD...I recommend farmville as the vegetable wars there now tend to be much more exciting.

Newbs will always be newbs...again if all you want is for newbs to feel good about themselves, just ban top 5 alliances every era round tick 2000, all of them, and let the newbs win. I am sure that will give a great sense of accomplishment to everyone
