He's saying that instead of making unnecessary additions to the game, players are just encouraged to use third-party software such as Skype to communicate privately.

Then if you don't want a private chat, then don't have one. Simple as that. I believe there are even chatrooms that don't require you to download anything anyways, so use those.

I like this idea very much, it is easier to do it ingame rather than on another program, like skype.
